Fascists aren’t just rearing their ugly heads anymore – they’ve infiltrated every level of politics. We are living in an era of bullshit, wars, genocide, disenfranchisement, climate crisis and rising authoritarianism. It’s a time when the prospects for freedom, equality and solidarity seem bleaker than ever – and that’s why it’s more important than ever to defend the values that matter and stand up for our communities. Against all the filth of the oligarchs and their fascist sycophants, we must build a confident, solid movement.

Recent years have shown that we have a solid base to build on. We have strong communities, international networks – we are not few, and when we throw ourselves into something we can achieve a lot. And May Day, since the 19th century, has been the day when we take all of that – our anger, our hope, our love for a free life – out onto the streets under the black and red banner.

May Day 2025 will be the third year in a row that we will not only gather at Střelecký island in Prague, but also march through the city centre. As usual, the event will be followed by a multi-genre concert of like-minded performers on Štvanice island – but we won’t just be repeating what has been done before. This year we will give the event the sharp political edge it deserves.
